Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2024 Broadcast: Everything Announced


Tokyo Game Show 2024 is now in full swing and Microsoft has wrapped up its Xbox Broadcast showcase, revealing new trailers and information for games including Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater, Overwatch 2, Starcraft, Katamari, and much more.

The show was promised to feature "an exciting lineup of games from third party partners primarily based in Japan and across Asia, as well as content from Xbox Game Studios, Blizzard Entertainment, and Bethesda."

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater Opens the Xbox Broadcast

A new trailer for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater (the wee Δ is pronounced Delta) opened the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2024 Broadcast.

Focusing on the game's baddies, the trailer gave fans a good look at the likes of Revolver Ocelot, Colonel Volgin, the Boss, and more.

Though Tokyo Game Show would've made an ideal place to reveal the highly anticipated remake's release date, seeing it was developed by Konami in Japan, but it remains with an elusive 2024 window.

My Hero Academia Is Coming to Overwatch 2

Popular anime My Hero Academia is aptly collaborating with hero shooter Overwatch 2 for skins based on the likes of All Might and Deku.

The collaboration arrives October 17 and Xbox released a short but sweet trailer to showcase the collaboration, including which heroes in particular are crossing over.

Overwatch 2 arrived in 2022 and has had myriad collaborations so far, including with World of Warcraft, Transformers, and more.

Age of Mythology Retold: Immortal Pillars Announced

An expansion for simulation game Age of Mythology Retold was announced, called Immortal Pillars. It will take players through the myths of China with an all new pantheon of gods, powers, and more.

Xbox debuted a trailer for the downloadable content and made clear it is coming to Xbox Game Pass day one, though other details are still hazy, and no release date or price was announced.

It did confirm that 12 new gods including Nüwa, goddess of creation, Chiyou, bull-headed god of war, and Nüba, restless goddess of drought will be available though.

Starcraft Remastered and Starcraft 2 Coming to Game Pass

StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection hit Game Pass from November 5, Microsoft announced during its Tokyo Game Show 2024 broadcast.

Blizzard's sci-fi real-time strategy games are the latest from the company to launch into Game Pass following Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard last year.

While the entirety of the original StarCraft and StarCraft 2’s multiplayer components are free-to-play, StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection will be available to anyone with a PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate subscription from November 5.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Gets New Trailer

One of Microsoft's big titles coming soon, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle received some love during the broadcast with a new trailer showing both cinematics and gameplay.

With a release date of December 9, there's not too much more Xbox can show of this entry (which has already received previews and previous trailers) but the trailer did show a handful of new scenes.

While this is one of the biggest Xbox exclusives of 2024, the game is ironically coming to PlayStation too, but not until next year.

Super Cute Tanuki: Pon's Summer Coming from Xbox

Xbox unveiled a super cute game called Tanuki: Pon's Summer at the Tokyo Game Show broadcast, alongside a reveal trailer showcasing its gameplay.

"Bike around four charming and distinct Japanese small towns, deliver packages for the townsfolk, complete unique quests and activities, and win the hearts of townsfolk," reads the official synopsis from Xbox Wire.

"Save up enough money to repair the local Tanuki shrine in time for the Great Tanuki festival, and take your place in tanuki history."

Threads of Time Is Another Take on the 2D-HD RPG Formula

Another take on the HD-2D concept coined by Square Enix, Threads of Time is an upcoming role-playing game from publisher Humble Games and developer Riyo Games Beyond just "gorgeous 2.5D pixel art" the game looks to feature myriad anime cutscenes. The trailer showed off plenty of these, including of dramatic boss fights against mythical beasts.

"Explore different eras, assemble your party and restore the ancient order of the Time Knights," reads the official synopsis. "From the majestic age of dinosaurs to the distant future teeming with mechanical marvels, every era is packed with adventure and secrets waiting to be unearthed.

"As you navigate this vast tapestry of history, uncover a sinister plot threatening to unravel the very fabric of time as told through striking anime cutscenes."

We Love Katamari Coming to Xbox Today

Roll 'em up We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie is available today on Xbox, Microsoft announced during the Tokyo Game Show broadcast.

This remaster of the classic game features quality-of-life enhancements and new modes such as Selfie Mode and Eternal Mode, five new challenges themed around the story of the young King of All Cosmos, and all new collectibles to roll up.

It initially launched in 2023 for the Nintendo Switch and is available on other platforms too.

Hero Shooter FragPunk Gets Closed Beta in October

Xbox announced that players can now sign up for the closed beta of hero shooter FragPunk ahead of its October 10 release.

A deep dive during the showcase also outlined new heroes previously not revealed and gave a look at the development team and its process.

Fragpunk is described as a "fast paced 5v5 hero based first person shooter featuring powerup cards that bend the rules of combat."

Metaphor ReFantazio Gets New Trailer

Highly anticipated role-playing game Metaphor ReFantazio received a new trailer during the broadcast, showing off some of the killer moves players can perform against gargantuan baddies.

The game, from the creators of Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5, is launching October 11 and received a demo yesterday, but this trailer still had some new information to reveal.

"Players will write their destiny and rise above fear as they step into a fantasy world unlike any other in a perilous race for the throne," the official synopsis reads.

Atelier Yumia Gets Deep Dive

Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land received a gameplay deep dive during the broadcast.

Producer Junzo Hosoi delved into the evolution of the franchise and introduced the new game's dramatic world, characters, and more.

"An alchemy-themed JRPG around the concept of memory, Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & The Envisioned Land puts you in the role of new protagonist Yumia as she confronts her past in this beautiful fantasy adventure," reads the official synopsis. "Enhance your skills, defeat enemies and explore a vast open world."

Asurajang Rumble Gets New Trailer

Melee focused anime battle royale Asurajang Rumble got a new trailer during the broadcast, showing off its myriad wild and wacky characters.

An in depth trailer also showed its top down gameplay and mechanics, including a stamina based combat system and the best survival strategy against disappearing maps.

"Asurajang is a new battle royale experience that mixes in melee combat that packs a punch and trendy anime style graphics," reads the official synopsis ."Pick your favorite character and engage in strategic combat to become the last team standing in Asurajang."

Bleach Rebirth of Souls Gets New Trailer

Highly anticipated fighting game Bleach Rebirth of Souls received a new trailer at the Xbox Tokyo Game Show Broadcast.

The trailer focused on the iconic battle from the anime and manga between Ichigo Kurosaki and Ulquiorra Shifar, showing their wicked transformations and powerful moves.

"Awaken the blade within you and reverse your fate in Bleach: Rebirth of Souls," the official synopsis reads. "Engage in thrilling battles with powerful sword abilities and characters from this legendary anime franchise."

Synduality: Echo of Ada Launches January 2025

Xbox revealed the release date for Synduality: Echoe of Ada at the Tokyo Game Show broadcast, alongside myriad editions and preorder bonuses players can expect.

Fans can pick it up on January 24, 2025, and preorders are now open. The player versus player versus environment extraction shooter tasks its players with surviving against xenomorphic creatures and other players in the hunt for resources.

The trailer showed off the customizable robot companion known as Magus and a bunch of its intense gameplay and colorful characters.

Furry Friends Are Coming to Fallout 76

Xbox has announced that players can soon have their very own furry friends in the wasteland as cats and dogs are coming to Fallout 76.

The game's creative director Jon Rush announced during the showcase that C.AM.P pets are coming to the game in December, though no more specific release date was shared yet.

In Fallout 76 fashion, players can also create beds and kennels for their furry friends to add a little more life to their bases.

Suikoden 1 and 2 Remastered Gets Gameplay Comparison

The developers of Suikoden 1 and 2 Remastered revealed new gameplay for the collection which included a side by side look at the games then and now.

Series director Takahiro Sakiyama also outlined revamped features in the game including an updated user interfaced, improved graphics, and backgrounds completely redrawn for the HD era.

"The legendary RPG series has returned, with newly remastered versions of Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2," the synopsis reads. "Meet and befriend up to 108 allies, build up your home base, expand your sphere of influence, and unite with your allies to fight for justice."

All You Need Is Help Is Available Today

Taking the cake for strangest game featured in the showcase, All You Need Is Help is about weird Tetris looking animals doing weird things! And it's available today.

"All You Need is Help is a four player co-op game, with local and online multiplayer fully supported," according to the Xbox Wire.

"Find players regardless of your console thanks to cross-platform support and a robust lobby system. All You Need is Help also features deep customization where players can unlock new skins for the creatures as well as accessories for their homes."

Slitterhead Gets Deep Dive

Silent hill creator Keiichiro Toyama spoke during the Xbox broadcast to offer a deep dive into his new horror game Slitterhead.

The clip offers an in-depth look at Slitterhead's possession system, which allows you to take control of any human and use them to battle against the grotesque monsters that have infested the city.

Xbox also announced the opening of preorders for the game, with both standard and deluxe editions available for horror fans.

The Starbites: Taste of Desert Gets New Trailer

Wild and wacky The Starbites: Taste of Desert got a new trailer during the showcase that showed off its colorful anime mech gameplay.

The trailer showed off the turn strategy game, which takes players to the planet of Bitter and lets them take control of a topsy turvy crew of mech pilots. "Explore the world, engage in turn-based battles, and chase your destiny in The Starbites," the synopsis reads.

Protagonist Lukida is a debris collector who must pay off his debts by gathering wreckage, but has a dream for more and embarks on a journey with friends to achieve it.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake Gets Deep Dive

Square Enix appeared during the Xbox showcase to show off its upcoming Dragon Quest 3: HD-2D Remake. The lengthy trailer gave fans another look at the game ahead of its November 14 launch.

"Experience the chronological beginning of the Erdrick Trilogy storyline in this remake of the original RPG classic, now with vibrant HD-2D visuals and an expanded narrative," the official synopsis reads.

"Set out on an epic fantasy adventure as The Hero to save the world from the dark forces of the evil Archfiend, Baramos. Travel through a vast world full of towns, dungeons and caves to explore, meet a cast of lively characters and fight ferocious monsters in modernized turn-based battles."

Mana Games Coming to Xbox

Square Enix showed up again to announced that two classic Mana games are coming to Xbox and will be available today.

Both Trials of Mana and Legend of Mana are available on Xbox Series X and S, Windows PC, and Game Pass today. The former is the 2020 remake of the 1995 classic, while the latter is the 2021 remake of the original from 1999.

They'll join the fully modern release of Visions of Mana, which launched on Xbox Series X and S earlier this year.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series Now Available on Xbox

After debuting on practically every other platform available, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games are finally arriving on Xbox platforms today.

The Pixel Remaster series takes the classic originals and remakes them with new pixel art optimized for HD displays, with rearranged soundtracks and quality-of-life features, including multiple font options, the ability to switch to the old soundtracks if you’re a purist, the ability to boost experience for faster levelling, turn off random enemy encounters, and even auto-battle.

Unlike the Mana games, however, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters are not available via Xbox Game Pass, meaning players need to grab them at full price.
